Chocolate Walk 2013

Downtown Lakewood Business Alliance’s Lakewood Chocolate Walk is a delectable and decadent evening all about chocolate!

Last year’s event was held on Thursday, October 24th.  Participants visited a wide variety of shops and eateries that were Sweet Stops on the Chocolate Walk. People popped in establishments many already know and love, or encountered a fun new place they haven’t visited before.  Each Sweet Stop provided a unique chocolate treat.  The music of Fireside filled the street as they played live on Menchie’s patio.

Chocolate Walk tickets are $25 per person. Check in at University of Akron Lakewood (14725 Detroit Avenue, Suite 108), pick up your bag & wrist band, and browse the raffle prizes.  Buy raffle tickets at the beginning or the end of your walk, as the raffle baskets will reappear at the Grand Finale Sundae Bar, sponsored by Discount Drug Mart and Giant Eagle, open from 8-9 p.m. at Rozi’s.

The Pre-Walk VIP Party is from 5:30 – 6:15 at Deagan’s Kitchen & Bar (14810 Detroit Avenue).  For $40, you get not only your Chocolate Walk ticket but a special opportunity to elevate your chocolate experience to a whole new level of bliss!  VIP Reception sponsor Deagan’s will be concocting a special chocolate drink, as well as providing a choice appetizer.  You’ll also get personalized check-in, and a VIP name tag for the evening.

CityWide Street Sale

This is the 5th year for the popular CityWide Street Sale in Lakewood Thursday, Friday & Saturday June 26th through June 28th. Bringing Lakewood residents and merchants together for 3 days of sales, this event draws happy shoppers from beyond our city, seeking bargains and seeing what else Lakewood has to offer.

Sponsored by the Downtown Lakewood Business Alliance this CityWide Street Sale is open to all Lakewood residents and merchants to participate. As the list is compiled of who is having a sale, we’ll have a posting on this website of all the locations (beginning Monday June 23). Shoppers will also be able to print the list to take with them.  Resident names will not be published. Last year we had 200+ resident sales and sidewalk sales.

New This Year ($10 for all Garage Sales): The past two years we have offered a sale kit for $5. We have upgraded these kits and are giving them to all participants of the CityWide Street Sale. We are charging $10 for your sale. We will be purchasing ads for local news papers and doing more advertising of sale which will increase your ability to have more foot traffic during the weekend of the sale. Just as a side note, one 12 line ad in the Sun News or Cleveland Plain Dealer start at $25. This is a great deal for you. These kits have CityWide Street Sale Yard Signs, one poster, 9 red, white and blue balloons, a how-to-guide for a successful garage sale, tags and stickers to prices items and more.

1. You can sign up online (click here to sign up online)
2. Print off the application, fill it out, and send check made out to LakewoodAlive
(Click here for the Street Sale Application – 2014)
3. Sign up in person at lion and blue (15106 Detroit Ave.) or Paisley Monkey (14417 Detroit Ave.)

Once you have signed up and paid your $10, print off your order confirmation and

Chocolate Walk 2011

Chocolate Walk 2011 was a Great Event!!

The weather cooperated and the rain stopped before 300 walkers set out for the “Adult Trick-or-Treat” visiting 30 Downtown Lakewood merchants and collecting their loot. The line at Lakewood Federal Savings was around the block before 6 where the anxious crowd waited to check in and collect their shopping bags. Charlie Chonka cut the ceremonial ribbon, and the walkers filed in. From one end of Downtown to the other, the streets were alive with the 300 that were lucky enough to get tickets to this quickly sold out event.

Cats on Holiday provided the entertainment at Rozi’s where the walkers enjoyed the Sundae Bar contributed by Drug Mart. Shopping for the perfect holiday gift was just a bonus, given the fantastic selection of wine, beer and more and a chance to relax on the new patio at Rozi’s.
